Teen Read Week Activities

Teen Read Week will take place October 14th-18th. The theme for 2013 is: Seek the Unknown @ Your Library. Below is a list of activities that will take place at the Escobedo library to celebrate Teen Read Week. If you are interested in any of the activities, please respond to this post with your name, what lunch you have and which day you would like to participate. Check the library window on Monday, October 15th to see if you are elgible to participate. Limited to 20 students per lunch per day.

 Daily Lunchtime Activities:

Monday- Seek and Find Library Books: We will have a library book scavenger hunt. The person who finds the most correct books will win a prize.

Tuesday- Seek a Cookbook: We will read a recipe from one of our cookbooks and make Halloween Cake Pops to get us in the Halloween spirit.

Wednesday- Seek a new book. Bring books from home that are middle school appropriate that you don’t want anymore and trade them for a different book. Each book you bring will allow you to pick one book. Bring as many books as you want by 10/13 to participate.

Thursday- Seek and Find Answers on World Book. CCSD has a new database call World Book. Use iPads to race to see who can find the most correct answers first and earn a prize.

Friday- Seek a How to Book. We will be making duct tape bookmarks using a How to book from our library.

 Ongoing Activity:

Make a Blind Date With a Book- Seek an Unknown Book. Check-out an unknown book wrapped in butcher paper. Major themes will be written on the paper. Unwrap it and see what awesome book you get to read. Later, “rate your date” and let us know if you like the book. If you read and rate the book, you will earn a prize.
