Area teens will be reading for the fun of it as Escobedo MS celebrates the eleventh annual Teen Read Week(TM), October 12 – 18, 2008. They join thousands of other libraries, schools and bookstores across the country who are encouraging teens to celebrate this year’s theme, “Books with Bite @ your library®.” Teen Read Week(TM) is the national adolescent literacy initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), the fastest-growing division of the American Library Association. This year’s theme encourages teens to read a wide variety of books and graphic novels, from animals to vampires to cooking, just “for the fun of it.”

Down the Rabbit Hole
it is about a girl who loves soocer and tried to get to soccer practice on foot,
but she runs into trouble with a lady called Cracked-up Katie, the lady offered her to come in her house and let her call a taxie to get to pratice.
when the cab got there the girl ran out the door forgeting her soccer cleats.
The next day she read in the newspaper Cracked-up Katie was murdered,
she was wondering what happed when she realized she forgot her cleats were over there. then she made a plan to go to Katies house when her family finally fell asleep, so she headed over there and went through the basement window, she got to the front door and noticed her cleats werent there.
she thought they might be up stairs in her room so she ran up the stairs and saw police tape she entered the room and saw her cleats she grabbed them and heard someone comeing up the stairs she jumped under the bed and saw feet she waited till he went back stairs and came out of under the bed, walking down stairs she heard police at the front door so she ran out the back door when the police started chaseing after her.
she got home and her family was asleep but when they wolk uo they were suspicious. she is figureing out who murtered Katie.
so that is about my book the rest is a suprise!

Hi Ms.Baca,
I’m read the book LUSH by Natasha Friend.
the book lush was about a family and the father has a drinking problem.
well Sam has the hardest time with it. well sam goes to the library very often and started writing notes to a girl.
well she told the girl about her dad and how her family has a hard time with it and she asked for help and advice.
well she told the girl to leave the note in between a book people haven’t checked out for 13 years, so 1 day she went back and there was a reply but it was sighned AJK and the girls name was jamie so she was confused about that!
well later on in the book she starts talking to the book shelving boy and finds out hes been replying to her notes!
sams mom goes to yoga and had a big event on a saturday and left her brother Luke her and her dad home alone well she knew she had to stay because her dad has been drinking alot and was worried about luke being alone.
well her dad told them to stay up stairs but Luke was thirsty so they went down stairs and luke turned on the wiggles so they were being loud when there dad asked them not to so her dad has been drinking al night and came out of his office and hit luke in the head with a half full rum bottle!
sam ran to her naighbors and next thing she knew she was waiting for luke with her mom and ex best friend and his mom.
well her dad had to go to a special school to get help for his problem.
and the rest of it is a mystery…for you to read!!

i read a book called perfect by Natasha Friend.
isabelle and her family has suffered her fathers death.
well since isabelles father has past she has become belemic.
so her sister April found her one day, head in the toilet making her self throw up and told her mother.
so her mom put her in “group”
because it’s part of their “deal”.
well a girl from isabelles school suprisingly goes to group as well.
her name is ashley and she is super popular.
well her and isabelle become good friends and start sitting together at lunch and has sleepovers and isabelle leaves her other friends whos always been there. but no one knows about her fathers death but her close relatives.
so her mom has lost all hopes in her life and isabelle and April is taking care of their mother instead of the other way around. well thats why isabelle doesnt have sleepovers at her house because her mom is a mess but when ashley spends the night her mother pulls it together unexpectidley
and was nice and she looked pretty unlike usual well her mother has stopped all traditions her husband used to celebrate but this time isabell and april pull together a holiday that helps her mom and brings their family closer!

i read a book called mallory on board.
mary ann and joey are her 2 best friends and their mom and dad are getting married on a cruise ship.
well its hard for mallory because shes getting left out of everything her friends do.
when they have dinner on the ship her friends sit together but mallory has to sit withher own family not with her friends.
on the cruise the people have 4 hours on a special island that has water parks and stores so may ann and joey and winnie all go shopping for thier parents wedding gifts well 3 hours later they’re just now leaving 1 store but didn’t find anything.
so finally at the last store they forund something but had to get back on board.
that night mallory wanted to have a sleepover with her bestfriends but they said they had to get up early for the wedding.
so next day they all had an early breakfast then mallory asked everyone if they wanted to go swimming but everyone said they were to busy, even joey said he was to busy but he wasn’t getting his hair done so she just didn’t understand.
well later at the wedding mallory saw that winnie and mary ann have matching hair styles and dresses!
but that was her and may ann’s thing to do!
so she left the wedding chaple right in the middle of the captains words!
her dad came after her 20 minutes later and they made a wish thinking the ocean was a wishing pond.
well her wish came true and had a great time!!!!

i read a book called Ms.Patty is batty.
well the book is about a secratary at a school who is nuts about hawlloween and told all the kids to come to her house because her candy is best in town.
so aj and his friends decided to go to her house last!
well her house came around and as they walked through her gate they saw all of her decerations and how spooky it was!
so they backed out but andrea told them stop being babies and go!
so they walked to her steps and rang the door bell.
she answered and said come inside and down to the basement.
well before hawlloween night they hear rumors that Ms.Patty chopped off her husbands head and put it in a chest in her basement.
so they listened to her and walked down but as they walked down a chest appeared and a whole bdy without a head popped out of it and candy started flying every where but then the guy got out of the chest but all off the sudden their princepal appeared in the basement and diffeated the monster.
so everyone their got all the candy and had a good halloween!
