Reading for Laptops Contest
Do you want a laptop? How about a FREE LAPTOP? If so, why not trying to win a FREE laptop? Here’s the catch: read books on the approved list (list located on the side tab- Pages- Reading for Laptops Intermediate/ Young Adult) and complete a book review. The book review forms can be found in the Escobedo library. Good luck!
*Remember last year Emily won the Grand Prize from the Reading Rocks program. You could be a winner too… The program runs until May 1st so start working on that reading list.

I could go for that…..
.
But some questions:
Do we have to read all the books on the list? (note: i have no clue what they are….I haven’t looked at the list yet
).
Also a fact of note that I think is really cool: the contest ends on my birthday
. So cool!

I think that I’ll try to win this contest!
How many books do we have to read?
December 12th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
I also have another question.
If we have read a book before, do we have to read it again?

That Laptop will be mine, Brisingr is done. So 1232342902 more books to go to guarantee my laptop. I’ll be checking out the whole list next Friday. :p

Emily- you do not have to read all the books on the list. Read as many as you want. The more you read, the better your chance of winning the laptop. Since you are our lucky winner from the Reading Rocks program AND your birthday is the due day, you may get lucky again.
Racheld- Read as many books as you want. If you have already read a book on the list, you can just fill out the book review form. Come see me to get one.
Johansen- Love your positive spirit! Come to by and check out a few of the books. I challenge you to complete the entire list…
Hailey- Read as many as you want. The more the better!

If we read a different book, can we still enter??? There is a question on the sheet that asks if we picked the book off the list and so is the whole list thing optional?
January 11th, 2009 at 6:00 pm
Since my comment last time didn’t want to show up I’m going to post it again!!!! HA the computer can’t beat me!!!!! Ok, I’ll stop.
Anyways, my question was is do we have to read the books off the list? Because on the sheet it asks if we picked the book off the list, so is the whole list thing optional??? Just wondering…..

Emily- Let’s just stick to the Reading for Laptops list for now. I’m not sure how it works if we choose books off the list. Let me find out more about this and get back to you. I’m still challenging you to read ALL of the books on one list. I know you could do it!
January 12th, 2009 at 9:54 pm
I’m planning to start reading one tonight…if i’m not too sleepy
thanks for posting back!!!!
January 13th, 2009 at 12:39 pm
Emily- So which Reading for Laptops book is your favorite so far??? Which one are you reading now?
January 13th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
Right now I’m reading Elijah of Buxton by Christopher Paul Curtis (forgot my list when I went to the public library and it was the only one I remembered). Other than that one, I had read Revolution is not a Dinner Party, by Ying Chang Compestine (love the three names trend
) I’m going back to the library next week (the new Centennial one
saw it in the paper it looks pretty) and this time I’ll bring my list and check out only books off the list (i am going to try to read all the books but I don’t know if I can!)
But I was reading Elijah of Buxton today and I got a little lost….so I’m not too sure how much I like it…but since I’ve only completed one book, its really not fair to name a favorite yet…but I’m going to try to stop in tomorrow (they wouldn’t let me go today…
) and pick up a sheet so I can start filling that out.

Emily- I KNOW you can read all the books!!!! Try reading Elijah of Buxton some more. It’s a great book. I had the opportunity to meet Christoper Paul Curtis and he was very nice. He has great stories to tell about his life experiences that he used as a basis for many of his books.
January 15th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
It actually got a little better I read like 5 chapters today and Elijah is entertaining…I think I got lost because like me, he babbles on and on and on and on and on and on…..but I’m back on track now
January 15th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
Emily- don’t worry I babble a lot too. I got lost in movies very easy but the great thing about books is that if I find myself getting lost, I just put it down until I can refocus.

Ok, I found out that ANY books published within the past 3 years can be used as an entry for the Reading for Laptops contest. They need to be middle school type books. So bring them in for Mrs. Baca to review and get the final approval.
January 16th, 2009 at 4:11 pm
In the last three years….ok I can do that I have some books that I’ve already read (
) and some other books I can do now….but, I’m still going to try to finish the list
or come as close as I can
January 20th, 2009 at 10:25 am
Emily- come by and get some more Reading for Laptops summary sheets. Good luck on that list- I know you can do it! I’ve got something really special for you if you can pull it off.
January 20th, 2009 at 5:46 pm
I’ll stop by tomorrow. I’ve got some heavy reading to do….gotta get throught Elijah of Buxton still
