Welcome Back!

I’m excited to start another new school year as your librarian at Escobedo Middle School! This past summer I was fortunate to have the opportunity to spend time with my family, get caught up around the house, go on a few vacations, and read some books. What did you do over the summer? Did you read any good books? I have to say that my favorite book that I read this summer was New Moon. Since then I’ve become a huge Jacob fan and I am anticipating the New Moon movie on November 20, 2009. Watch the movie trailer at http://www.twilightthemovie.com/

Our library classes will be starting up soon but if you need a SSR (silent sustained reading) book, come by the library before/after school or during any lunch. Come by and say “hi” or if you are new, introduce yourself. I can’t wait to see everyone!

This summer, I went on a HUGE roadtrip.
I went on a month long roadtrip down the Mississippi.
We drove all the way to Canada, and drove down the Mississippi River.
So with all that driving, I had ALOT of time to read books :)
One book I read, Summer Boys (forgot the authors name, sorry) was a REALLY good book :)
It was about a girl who had a summer romance with this guy, who didnt really live near her. They kept writing eachother, and she was in love with him.
The next summer, he came to visit again, and broke up with her.
He said they both knew it wasnt going to last, and that they were more compatible as friends.
She was heart-broken, and thought of ways to get back.
Then his bestfriend found an interest in her,
But thats all I can say :)
Haha, but it was a REALLY good book :)

Zoe- a month long roadtrip- cool! Lots of reading time in the car- great! Thanks for the book recommendation. I want to hear more about your trip. Where was your favorite place you visited and why? I love to travel! We went to Zion National Park, Panguitch Lake, and Huntington Beach over the summer. BTW- my kids love to annoy each other in the car. Do you and your siblings do that too? It makes me crazy! I was an only child so I guess I don’t get it. ;)

Emily- great to hear that you are on Team Jacob AND New Moon was your favorite Twilight book (great minds think alike). Northwest is an awesome school and Mrs. Nelson (your librarian) is so nice and a mentor for me in the world of the library. Tell her I said “Hi”. I love the windows in the NW library with all those views of the mountains. Keep me posted on your favorite reads throught the year.

Emily- I was in Zion for Father’s Day weekend and I’m going back this weekend. Our family did the Angel’s Landing hike all the way to the top through Walters Wiggles. It was great- a tiring 5 miles up, up, up but it felt good to be able to say that we accomplished that task. I love Bryce Canyon- we go there every Memorial Day to hike and ride our off-road toys. Glad to hear Camp Foxtail was fun! My kids loved their vacation bible school camp, maybe next summer I’ll sign my girls up to do Camp Foxtail too. Hope softball was fun! Good luck this season.
