Book Swap

Clean out your book shelves, we’re swapping books. Here is what you need to do- go through your bookshelves at home and find books you don’t want anymore. Make sure they are in good condition and appropriate for middle school. Ask your parents if you can trade them (for keeps). Bring them to the library before March 2nd and get a ticket for each one. So if you bring in 5 books you get 5 tickets. On March 4th during both lunches you will be invited back to pick out new books. 1 ticket per book. This is a great way to get new books for FREE. What are you waiting for? Go clean out your shelves, and closet and your room while your at it.

Emily has NO books? That is hard to believe…. Life is good because you have the library.

Cassi- you can bring as many books as you want. I had a student bring 103 books last time. So get all of your friends together and clean out those shelves. I know you must have a lot since your mom is a teacher.

Well I have books…just not books that I want to give away.

Emily- I see how you are, hoarding all the good stuff. Which book is your favorite of the ones that you own? I would have to say Love You Forever by Robert Munsch is my keeper. I’ll be reading that one to my kids, and grandkids, and great-great grandkids.

I’ll have to go look at my shelf to find out which book I like the best…hold on…alright, got them….Assassin by Anna Meyers and The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel.
And while I was looking, I found a bunch of books that I think I’ll get rid of, you know, all the ones I read in 4th grade, I’m sure someone else will love them. When can I start bringing them in?

Emily- Good books are worth the keeping no matter what reading level they are. Like I said in a previous post, my keeper is Love You Forever. It is a picturebook with a great moral behind it. You should read it, if you have not already. You can start bringing in your books now but you need to make sure you don’t loose the tickets that I will give you.

hahaha no promises on ticket loss, but I will probably forget unless I bring them in soon
Yeah, they are, but the thing is I never read them and they just sit there collecting dust……I always want new books so I’m going to sacrifice the Jerry Spinelli’s and the Louis Sachar’s, and those Dear America books…:) now someone else can love them as much as I did.
And I have read Love You Forever…my picture book keeper is a Sesame Street one called “The Monster at the End of this Book” and it involves Grover…its funny I used to love it then my mom gave it away and I was really mad……but, she found it at Borders last year and bought it for me
so now I have that. It, and Go Dog Go. Great memories of my dad reading that book to me led me to keep it for a long time

Emily- to share a good book is priceless. The memories of someone reading us a good book is even more priceless. It is nice to know that you have these great memories to hold in your heart forever!
